Welcome to FosterFerret. These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) govern your use of the FosterFerret platform, services, and related features (collectively, the “Services”). Please read them carefully before using our Services.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using FosterFerret, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, you may not use the Services.

2. Eligibility

• FosterFerret is designed for foster youth, caseworkers, counselors, and county education officials.
• Students are onboarded through their school district and connected to a caseworker.
• Users must provide accurate information during registration. False or misleading information may result in account suspension or termination.

3. Accounts & Access

• Students may sign up using school-approved credentials (district email or caseworker verification).
• Caseworkers and counselors may only join by invitation from their district or administrator.
• You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure. Do not share your password or access with others.

4. Permitted Use

You may use FosterFerret only for its intended purpose: supporting foster youth through secure communication, document storage, wellness check-ins, and resource access. You agree not to:

• Misuse or disrupt the Services.
• Upload harmful or unlawful content.
• Attempt unauthorized access to systems or accounts.
• Use FosterFerret for any commercial or unrelated purpose.

5. Service Features

• AI Assistant (Notebook): Provides general guidance and support but is not a substitute for legal, medical, or emergency advice.
• The Burrow: Provides access to approved items through district-managed accounts. Product availability is subject to change.
• The Vault: Stores and shares documents securely. Sensitive files are only shared with explicit student consent.
• Wellness Check-In: Weekly surveys are sent to caseworkers for awareness. Alerts may be generated if concerning patterns are detected.

6. Third-Party Services

FosterFerret uses third-party providers (e.g., AWS Cognito, Google, Twilio, Amazon, and OpenAI) to operate certain features. By using the Services, you acknowledge that these providers may process data as part of delivering the platform.

7. Privacy

Your use of FosterFerret is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which explains how we collect, use, and safeguard information.

8. Disclaimers

• FosterFerret is provided “as is” and “as available.”
• We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation.
• Information provided by the AI Assistant is for general support only. It should not replace advice from caseworkers, counselors, or qualified professionals.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, FosterFerret, its partners, and service providers are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Services. Direct liability is limited to the amount paid (if any) to access the Services in the past 12 months.

10. Termination

We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these Terms or misuse the Services. Students may also be blocked if their listed caseworker indicates they are not affiliated.

11. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California. Any disputes will be resolved under California jurisdiction.

12. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the Services after updates indicates acceptance of the revised Terms.
